Wasn't it yesterday that you were trying to look older and having a more mature look? It sure does feel like that. Nowadays it seems that most of us are searching for the fountain of youth instead.
We will be the first ones to tell you that you should embrace the natural beauty that comes with age. That being said, we do understand the desire to appear slightly younger in our beauty oriented world.
Don't forget that the primary goal should be beautiful, luminous skin, which can take some finessing. You don't want to just slap on a thick foundation that covers everything up.
The details of your makeup application can make a huge difference with how young you look, just be sure not to overdo it so your skin can look fresh and healthy.
We compiled some of our tips for a younger look.
Moisturize

In our daily routine it's easy to forget that our skin needs nourishing.
Dry and splotchy skin makes it age like nothing else, this is where primer comes in.
Primer helps by filling in fine lines, wrinkles, and pores. By doing so your skin can instantly look younger.
Try to adopt this habit early on and you’re less likely to develop a lot of wrinkles, that you would with a drier face. When looking for a moisturizer, search for ingredients like vitamin E as it's a hydrant. By the way, coconut oil can do wonders too.
Foundation

When it comes to foundation, less is more.
You actually need less foundation than you think! We advise to avoid medium and full coverage formulas if possible.
They might cover flaws, but almost always look too heavy and unnatural on the skin, and make your face appear "one-dimensional".
Instead, we'd go for as lite of a foundation as you can get away with, in a luminous finish. It should be in a shade that matches your skin perfectly, of course (try our Makeup Match page to help you with this task). Make sure you concentrate your application in the center of your face, starting with your nose, blending it out to the edges, where you need less coverage naturally.
To do so, press the foundation into your skin with a sponge or a "beauty blender" and work the product outward.
Always remember, you want light coverage and nothing too heavy.
Eyebrows

As we age, our eyebrows thinning out naturally but they should never be an afterthought.
Sometimes all it takes is a little shaping and arching to make them look young and fuller.
For more natural looking eyebrows, use a wax based product or powder that’s a shade lighter than your natural hair color, except if you’re blonde, then you should go for a shade darker. Keep in mind that filling can look too aggressive if you already have a lot of hair.
If, on the other hand, you have gaps or want to create the illusion of fullness, a tinted wax or fine-tipped pencil are your best option.
Lashes

While already on the subject of eyes, let's talk about your lashes.
Instead of relying on eye liner to define your eyes, lashes should be the focal point of your makeup look. As we age, our lashes flatten so using a curler is advised.
To get the best curl, place your top lashes in the padded curler as close to your lash line as possible without touching the skin of the eyelid. Then close the clamp with the handle and gently squeeze in place for a few seconds. Apply a few coats of mascara by pressing the brush into the roots and use a lash comb to separate any clumped lashes, to deal with excess use a Q-tip dipped in micellar water.
For a thicker look, a great trick is to try filling in the upper waterlines with a waterproof pencil.
Lips

Our lips tend to thin out and appear less defined with age. Dark lip colors are very trendy, but won’t do you any favors as they can make your lips look even thinner.
We recommend you to focus on creating a neutral or light pink lips as they give you a softer look, add fuller look to the lips, making you look more youthful. Also, it looks best when you use a fingertip to apply the color, so the edges are soft.
If you prefer a glossy finish for your lips, consider a tinted lip balm.
Blush

Blush, but just a touch, a little bit of it on the cheeks can brighten up your face and give it a youthful glow but It’s also important to note you need to apply it correctly.
Use it before you apply finishing powder.
You should smile and add blush sparingly to the apples of your cheeks. Sweep up and away toward your hairline and blend in fully.
Remember that too-dark or too-bright blush can easily look clownish so don't overdo it.
Highlight

Highlighters can be very helpful in turning the clock back a few years. Youthful skin has a natural luminosity, and the quickest way to fake it is by highlighting.
The application must be strategic as it adds a very subtle dimension to your features.
Apply highlighter using your fingers to dab it on the temple, tip of the nose, eyes, upper lip, and chin.
