Men won’t admit about many things, the main two being: marital affairs, and wearing or even considering any makeup.
Concealer is a multi-use product which often used to subtly cover up blemishes and brighten dark circles. It has been a secret weapon of well-groomed men for decades, especially of models, musicians and actors.
Concealer can be seen more as a camouflage rather than a makeup. An easy way of hiding dark circles, spots and redness. Once done right, no one can tell you’re using it.
Concealer?

Concealer is a coverage product designed to hide skin imperfections. It’s applied only where you need it, opposite of foundation which is applied on the whole area and evens the color of the face. A good concealer is a product that hides imperfections so well, it looks like nothing at all. It’s essentially a pigment in cream or liquid form. A quick pat under the eyes, a rub around the nostrils, a dab on angry ingrown hairs and they’re gone. It’s a quick and easy way to make sure you look like your best self.
Concealers in the past have been specifically marketed to women. They use it for acne, dark under-eye circles, redness, or other inconsistencies in skin texture - which are all things men suffer from, too. In fact, they can work better for men, who are more prone to acne and dark under-eye circles.
Choose The Right Concealer
Concealer Type
There are only three types of concealer that you need to know about: cream concealers, liquid concealers and stick concealers.
Liquids and creams vary in ‘coverage’ and are far more user-friendly than their stick counterpart. Stick concealers are heavy and will often give full coverage, using them is best for more severe blemishes and hyper-pigmentation.
Skin Type
It’s important to consider your skin type when shopping for concealer. Oily skin, for example, requires something matte that can absorb grease without adding to an even shinier face. For dry types on the other hand, something hydrating will stop the product from sticking to flaking skin and appearing visible. Your guide should be: If others can see it, you’ve gone wrong.
Concealer Color
As a general rule, if you want to brighten areas (under-eye circles or dark pigmentation) you should pick a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your skin tone. For small spots, however, you want to get as close to your current skin tone as possible, otherwise you’ll be drawing attention to the area. Try our Makeup Match to get your accurate skin tone and all the products that match it.
Color
Using concealer is complicated at first sight but it doesn’t have to be. Remember the following quick guide: Concealers use a color theory of using opposites colors on the color-wheel to cancel each other out. Don’t worry, while it looks odd going on, it does the job.
For Red skin: Use green corrector. For Sallow or yellow skin: Use 'lavender' corrector. For Dark circles: Use 'salmon' corrector.
How To Work With Concealers

Fingers are all you need to apply concealer. Ignore brushes, sponges and any other tools the make-up industry might try to force you into. The heat and natural oils on your fingers are the perfect thing to melt the product into your skin. Apply it to your fingertip and press it into the skin, using your index finger in dabbing motions to blend the product in.
